Polo Annual Festival
This verse is extolled on a stone tablet next to a polo ground in Gilgit, and modern day polo players in Pakistan have taken the saying to heart. "Let other people play other things – the king of game is still the game of kings".Historically, polo being the king of games was played between small kingdoms,
villages and rival groups of Gilgit and Chitral. From 1936 onwards polo tournaments were held annually at Shandur. The three day Shandur Polo Festival has developed steadily in recent years into the massive celebration of mountain polo that it is today. It is organised by the Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism Department and attended every year by thousands of foreign and domestic tourists besides prominent celebrities, public figures and opinion makers.

Polo in Chitral is as popular as in Gilgit. Polo matches are great attractions at festive occasions. A regular Polo tournament is held every year (First week of July) at Shandur Pass lies midway between Chitral and Gilgit.. Shandur's famous polo ground is one of Pakistan's largest tourist draws, luring in venture lovers to the world's highest polo ground at 3,738 meters. Your keen to witness the sport that had "originated in the dim and distant past in the high mountains of the Hindukush and Karakorum ranges...here it is still played in its original form, a game as tough rough and hard, on man and horse as the surrounding mountains themselves." After it  From   Phander set out to hike and camp at the nearby charming  Hundrap Lake.
