This beautiful city located in the Doon valley is one of the famous tourist place and is also the capital of Uttarakhand. The hill resort of is the gateway of the Garhwal region in the north Indian state of Uttaranchal. Dehradun is surrounded by the Himalayas in the North, the Shivalik range in the south, the Yamuna river to its west and the Ganges to its east. Dehra is a variation of the word dera which means camp, or a temporary abode.

Very nice blog post. Dehradun is situated between the two most important rivers in India, Yamuna and Ganga. I would like to add Sahastradhara into the list of major tourist attractions in Doon valley which is known for its waterfalls.
